Horizon chart

Compress a long time series into layered bands for compact trend monitoring. Create a private, publication-ready horizon chart directly in your browser without transmitting sensitive rows off-device. Data is processed locally on your hardware with zero server uploads, enabling instant export to SVG, PNG, and Excel data.

Edit the data, then export.

Everything runs in your browser. Your data is not uploaded.

Data

Paste tab-separated data from Excel or edit the cells directly.

Paste or import table data

Paste a header row, or choose a local CSV/TSV file. Files are read in this browser and capped at 500 rows.

SVG, PNG, and Excel exports are generated locally in this browser. PowerPoint export is temporarily unavailable while its dependency path is reviewed for a high-severity image parser advisory.

Temporal Dynamics & Trend Analysis

A horizon chart is a data-dense visualization designed to display long or multiple time series in a highly compact vertical space. It achieves this by dividing the quantitative value axis into uniform bands and “folding” them over each other. Higher values or negative values are represented by increasing color saturation or different hues, rather than taking up additional vertical height. This technique allows for monitoring complex trends and volatility across dozens of metrics simultaneously without scrolling. All horizon chart processing occurs locally on your machine, ensuring your time series data remains completely private and is never uploaded to any server.

Time-Series Layout & Column Schema

Format input columns for horizon chart with explicit headers and numerical measurements. Verify that rows represent discrete categories or observations without unformatted symbol artifacts.

Design Rules for Longitudinal Data

  • Ensure sufficient visual distinction for horizon chart marks across standard and high-contrast viewports.
  • Align text labels horizontally whenever possible to improve cognitive readability for horizon chart elements.
  • Double-check scale boundaries and zero-anchors before exporting horizon chart presentation artwork.

How it works

You edit a table in this page. The renderer draws an SVG from those rows in your browser, then you can download SVG, PNG, or Excel data. The table is not uploaded to any external processing server.

Frequently asked questions

How does a horizon chart save screen space?

It folds vertical height into layered color bands, achieving up to 5x the data density of standard line charts.
